When we got out of bed on Sunday morning it was raining, we have been very lucky with the weather on this trip, it has been very good to us for the whole trip but not today. We were heading to the city to do a river cruise down the Seine. Seeing everything from the top deck of the boat made everything look different again so many more photos were taken and the rain held off while we were doing the cruise and then bucketed down when we were trying to get back to the bus. No one got too wet but it didn’t look like improving, it was supposed to be a fine day so not many people bought coats etc. Eric used some of his local knowledge and called in a favour and we were able to call at a hotel he knew to get umbrellas for most people in the group.
We were heading up to Montmartre in a little train for a few hours as it’s not possible to get a coach up there as the streets are very narrow and windy. There is a beautiful church with lots of artists and paintings going on as well as restaurants and little cafes and you guessed it souvenir shops. It was still raining up there but most people managed to buy something to keep them dry, had something to eat and bought the odd souvenir before it was time to catch there little train back to the city, where the coach was waiting to take us back to our hotel to start packing.
When we arrived back at the hotel some of the group went for a walk around the streets looking at some shops then most people found somewhere for dinner and went back to their rooms to get ready for tomorrow when we head for home on our long flight home.
