Overnight we travelled to Durnstein, after breakfast we all headed ashore to go for a wander through this beautiful little town along the edge of the Danube River on this beautiful sunny morning. They call it the scenic gem situated in the Wachau Valley, a beautiful little village on the side of a hill and surrounded by vineyards. Above the town is the castle of Richard the Lionheart looks out over the valley, there is a lot of history here. Most people enjoyed the stroll to check it out as well as the souvenir shop and local fare including sampling some local wine and home made goodies. There were some passengers that even opted to do the 27km bike ride along the river and met the river ship at Melk, where they rejoined the river ship as we all got off to enjoy the Melk Abbey, this was a guided your through the Abbey and finished in the church which has to be seen to be believed. Most of us walked back to the river ship through the town centre which was a great walk through the forest, some chose to return to the river ship on the coach transfers that were supplied. Once back on board it was time to meet the Cruise Director for the low down on tomorrow as we head to Germany, then it’s dinner time again, as well as a four course meal every night, the meal is also complimented with local wines, beers and soft drink to enjoy so there is no chance of going hungry or thirsty thats for sure! After dinner some go off to their rooms and some go to the lounge for a couple of drinks and to listen to the assistant Cruise Director sing to us, they are very talented. Then it was off to bed after another busy day.
