Overnight we have cruised and now we wake up in Bratislava. After breakfast this morning we are heading into the city for our walking tour with our guide Eva who for our group was an older lady who spoke very good English and was very good to listen to as she had grown up during the war and through the years that the communists ruled Bratislava so we were given first hand information. After our tour we had some free time and had a wander around the city centre, enjoying a coffee before going back to the river ship for lunch. After lunch we all hopped on the coaches and did some home visits to some local families for coffee and cake, about 16 passengers were dropped at each house with a guide as an interpreter. We had a great time with our family who has seen some hard times over the years but were very proud of their modest home and were very happy to show everyone around their home and garden and share their afternoon tea with us all. Coffee, cake as well as some homemade wine with was all quite delicious. After hearing some of the stories I don’t know if us Aussie’s really know or appreciate how lucky we are! Once back on the river ship we caught up with some other passengers to see how their afternoon went and the general consensus was the same, everyone had a great afternoon. A short amount of free time before our afternoon meeting with the Cruise Director with a briefing on the activities for tomorrow before heading down to the dining room to eat again! After dinner we all retired to the lounge for a quiz show and a night cap before bed all talking about what a great day we had enjoyed.
