Rail & Sail - Day 2

This morning we got an early start for breakfast - WOW what a breakfast it was! A great way to start the day. After breakfast our transfer coach arrived and it wasn’t long and everyone was aboard ready to be transferred to the Adelaide Parklands Terminal to catch the Indian Pacific to Sydney.

We got through the very busy Adelaide traffic and arrived at the station in plenty of time. The system at the train station works well, on arrival the hostess met our coach and gave us our boarding passes. From there the staff took over, tagging and handling our luggage and loading it onto the train. Leaving us to head inside the terminal and relax with some complimentary food, coffee & juice.

It wasn’t long and the call came over for all gold passengers to start boarding the train. As we arrived at our allocated railcar we were met by our Steward and ushered to our sleeping cabin compartments. They showed us how everything worked and what time meals were served etc.

When we were served our first drink from the bar it was complimentary and I asked “how long does this go for” and the barman said “all day if you want as all the drinks are complimentary!” The meals have been AMAZING, way too much!

We had a stop in Broken Hill and there were a couple of included off train excursions that passengers could choose from: The Main Drag which was a bit of fun with singing and dancing, this was where Pricilla Queen of the Desert was filmed and the other was the Art Gallery with a display of Ken Done paintings. The evening meal was even better than the lunch meal (not sure how this is possible). Dinner could possibly be the best meal I have ever had!

It will be interesting to see how everyone sleeps tonight as the train is rocking and rolling and moving around a bit. Stay tuned for Day 3 when we arrive into Sydney!
