After breakfast it was off to the jetty for our cruise on the Macquarie Harbour and the famous Gordon River, our seats were in the Premier upper deck on the Lady Jane Franklin 2. Here we were waited on with food and refreshments for the cruise while sitting in our luxurious lounge seats. First it was off to Hells Gates to hear stories of shipwrecks and the wild ocean then see the fish farms that export salmon and trout all over the world.

We then got to experience Tasmanias World Heritage Wilderness. At Sarah Island we were able to walk around part of the island and hear tales of how the convicts turned this into a large ship building yard. The view was beautiful but the life would have been very cruel for the convicts living there. Many old Huon pines were spotted as we cruised along the river.

We then took a guided walk through the ancient forest at Heritage Landing along the boardwalk. Amazing how old these beautiful trees are, many ferns also making it such a nice walk. Back on board for a gourmet buffet meal, we were able to taste salmon, trout and other cold meats with salads. Followed by hot and cold drinks.

After this it was a cruise back to Strahan and the end of a lovely day. The sawmill was then the attraction for people to purchase pieces of wood to make their own masterpieces with this beautiful Huon pine, others purchased finished articles. We all will remember the beautiful smell of the Huon Pine.

On return to the hotel by coach we were able to rest up before dinner. Once again all sorts of wonderful creations on offer for us to devour!!! And another glorious sunset.
